Farming Tricks

Basil and Tomatoes.

Basil and Tomatoes goes well together when we are cooking, but did you know that basil and tomatoes work as well together in the garden?.
Basil is a well known pest repellent for many centuries, it repels, whiteflies, hornworms, aphids and more. This plant should be your companion plant to the tomato to fend off against these pests organically.

Egg shells

Don't throw those egg shells in the garbage. Egg shells can be used to deal with slugs and snails without having to use snail bait. To use them crush the shells and sprinkle them around the plant's base, when you do this the sharp edges are deadly to snails when they slither across because of the high calcium content would burn and kill them.

Pantyhose/Stockings as mesh

Yes this is very ironic and surprising to many but pantyhose stockings can be used as a barrier against the moths and butterflies to protect your cabbages and the many other members of the brassica oleracea family. The mesh can be put on the crown of the cabbage or the iceberg lettuce, the mesh allows sunlight and water to be passed through and it also expands as the crown is growing.

Have a nice day!
